WASHINGTON, DC, March 24 -- Exciting changes are taking place on our team of analysts.  Given the increasing demand for more depth of market coverage, Teal Group is dedicating individual analysts to both the military and civil sides of the global aircraft market.

Covering military aircraft  for Teal Group’s World Military and Civil Aircraft Briefing is Jeremiah (JJ) Gertler. JJ covered military aircraft while serving both in government and organization jobs. He began his aerospace and defense analysis career 38 years ago at RAND.

Most recently, JJ served 12 years as the airpower analyst for the entire United States Congress at the Congressional Research Service, advising all 535 members and their staff and committee staff on all military aviation programs, regardless of service. Other than Teal Group’s WMCAB reports, CRS reports are about the best out here.

There were numerous other highlights in JJ’s career. He ran part of the 1997 Quadrennial Defense Review while in the Office of the Secretary of Defense. He also served on the Air Force Airpower Advisory Forum, counseling a series of chiefs of staff and secretaries on issues facing the Air Force. He also helped vet Air Force budget presentations before they were released to Congress and the public.

A few other things you might want to know about JJ: years ago, he was the (pseudonymous) lead author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to the Pentagon. He is also the only person we know who has won NASCAR races. (full bio >)

Covering civil aircraft for Teal Group’s World Military and Civil Aircraft Briefing is Bruce McClelland. Bruce has analyzed the aviation market for more than 30 years. He cut his teeth at British Aerospace where he held a number of marketing and analytical roles focused on the then nascent regional aviation industry. He later moved to Dornier Aviation for a couple of years but moved up the food chain, so to speak, helping Rolls-Royce sell civil jet engines in the North American market and working closely with Airbus, Boeing and Embraer on the placement of aircraft as diverse as the ERJ-145 and A380.

The siren call of Wall Street beckoned, and he moved up to New York and joined CIT Aerospace where he spent almost 10 years advising on the lessor’s aircraft acquisition strategy. Following other ex-CIT colleagues, he joined Intrepid Aviation in 2014 where he held planning/marketing/ strategy roles focused on Intrepid’s core twin-aisle business focus.

Bruce left Intrepid after it was bought out by Amadeo in 2018 and has been supporting Teal Group on several projects where his analytical and deep aviation experience have been extremely useful. (full bio >)

Finally, Richard Aboulafia will serve in an Emeritus role with Teal Group and is available to answer client questions about reports that he has authored.
